 A picture in the style of Mondrian. |
Show the student some pictures of Mondrian's simpler geometric works. Check your local library for a book of his works, or visit the Webmuseum website, where you can view many of his works online.
Explain that Mondrian's later works were completely abstract, and often consisted of geometric matrices with blocks of primary colors.
In order to create a work of your own in the style of Mondrian, first draw a geometric framework (like the black lines in the work above) using a ruler and pencil. Color the framework black.
Using primary colors (blue, red, and yellow), fill in some of the empty blocks within the black framework.
Give your work a title and sign it.
